This statement (consisting of (2) pages each signed by me) is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated in it anything which I know to be false or do not believe to be true.

 Date : 11th September 2007

 Statement :

I make this statement in relation to an incident that occurred whilst I was in Italy during a period covering 30th July 2007 to the 3rd August 2007.

On Monday 30th July 2007 I travelled to Italy with my son Anthony John Dean, who is 27 years old, and his partner Lucy, who is 19 years old.

The purpose of the trip was for Anthony to purchase property in Italy and I was there as an advisor due to previous building experience. The trip had been arranged by Anthony through Paradore Properties, Paradore House, 20 Claydon Road, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 1BW.

I am unsure of the airport that we flew into but it was a Ryanair flight.

We were staying at the Europa Hotel in a town called Belvedere, as this was the area that we were to view the properties.

We were escorted in Italy by an agent from Paradore Properties but I do not remember his name.

Hotel Europa is a new hotel located on the coast road in Belvedere, about one quarter of a mile from the beach.

I would say that the hotel had about six floors and probably about thirty rooms per floor.

I was allocated a room on the fourth floor and Anthony and Lucy were on the third floor.

I do not recall my room number but do remember that it was about two rooms from the lift.

During the early hours of either the 1st or 2nd August 2007, I was woken about 2:30 am by the sound of a crying child in the corridor outside my room. This child sounded very distraught and I could hear loud knocking on a door. This seemed to come from the corridor outside my room about two doors down. The crying sounded to me like a 3 to 4 year old female child and appeared to come from the right of my room.

This statement (consisting of.....pages each signed by me) is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated in it anything which I know to be false or do not believe to be true.

I am 74 years of age and reside at the above stated address with my husband Charles.

On 31st July 2007, we went on a cruise around the Mediterranean on the QE2. We'd departed from Southampton on 31st July 2007 and our first stop-over was in Lisbon on 2nd August. We had booked a small tour of Lisbon which was due to set off from the ship at approximately 0930 hours. The tour took us around the main attractions of the city, stopping every so often to allow people on and off the bus. The tour ended at approximately 1230 hours on Blackhorse Square, where myself and my husband were given the opportunity to get off and catch a later bus or return to the ship. We decided to remain in Blackhorse Square and spent some time looking around stalls and shops nearby on the Rua Augusta E Arco Do Triunfo. We found a small cafe to get something to eat and drink. I noticed there was a small kiosk attached to the side of the cafe which was selling ice creams.

Sometime between 1pm and half one, my husband Charles went to look around some of the stalls nearby while I remained at the cafe. Due to ill-health I can't walk great distances.

Statement of Witness :

Continuation Statement of : SHEILA JEAN WACK

After about 20 minutes or so I was wondering where Charles had got to and was looking round to see if I could see him coming back. At this time I noticed a woman with jet-black hair, holding a small girl who appeared to be sleeping, getting an ice cream from the kiosk. I noticed at this time there was a man with them. My attention was drawn to him because the man appeared to be very agitated. There was a slight breeze and the little girl's hat fell off. When it had done this I seen she had whispy light-brown hair, tied in two long pigtails. When I seen this I was reminded of Madeleine McCann. I thought that may be her. At this time the man bent down and picked up the white hat which had blown off her head and placed it back on.
He appeared very agitated at this time and was glancing about him as if he was looking to see if anyone had noticed.

I would say the male was about 5' 2" to 5' 5" with black hair, stocky build. I wouldn't really say what he was wearing but I think he looked Mediterranean in appearance.

The woman that was with him I never seen her face but I think she was about 5' to 5' 2" with jet-black hair and again seemed very Mediterranean/Eastern European.

I was watching them for about 5 to 7 minutes. They were only about 4 yards away from me and we were outside and it was very bright sunny conditions.

I was wondering what to do, however couldn't decide on anything.

When my husband returned I told him what I had seen, however we couldn't decide what to do.

We returned to the ship and I thought about it some more. I got a very sleepless night that night, however the next morning when we woke up we discovered there was a news report stating that Madeleine had been seen in Holland, so I thought I must have been mistaken.

Since returning home from my cruise I have been unwell and this has been the first time I've left the house since returning. Due to the fact that Madeleine has not been found, I thought I should come and inform the Police of what I had seen.

The only thing that makes me think it was Madeleine McCann was the male's agitated state and the little girl's hair as it looked exactly like the pictures of her on TV.

I can't think what the little girl was wearing or state which direction the people went off.

I don't think I would recognise either the male or female again if I seen them.

WITNESS STATEMENT

Statement of : Isabella Millar Brown or Finlayson(sic)
Age of Witness : Over 21
Occupation of Witness : Retired
Address : 'x', Dxxxxxxxx Dxxxx, Kelty, Fife, (Scotland), KYx xxJ.
Telephone Number : 013838xxxxx

This statement, consisting of 4 (??Pages), each signed by me, is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated in it anything which I know to be false or do not believe to be true.

Dated the 24th day of September 2007.

I reside at the address stated with my husband. My brother-in-law stays in Amsterdam and works with a Security Firm out there. When he returns to the UK, we go out there and stay in his house at 'xx', Pxxxx xxx xxxx, LW Amsterdam, tel : 00312063xxxxx.

We went out with friends on 7th(sic) August 2007 and stayed there for three weeks.

On 3rd(sic) August 2007, I was talking to my friend, Ella Hope, about the Cruisers (cruise ships) and at around half past five, quarter to six, (1730 hours/1745 hours), we went down to footpath where there is a promenade type footpath by the river where we could see the Cruisers turning round and going out to sea. We sat at the edge of the path and were talking about the ships. At about this time, a wee lassie came around us to our right. As we looked at the water, I could see a couple. They sat in the bushes and I thought this was strange. They had a Mediterranean type skin with dark hair. It was a man and a woman. It was difficult to see them but they were partially hidden by the bushes. I think the female was wearing a white top and black skirt or trousers.

Page 2564 (Page 2 of 2 )

The wee lassie was aged at around 4 years old. She was 3 feet tall, maybe slightly taller, slim build.
She had shoulder length hair but the fringe was down over her face covering her eyes. She had a red long-sleeved t-shirt on and lilac trousers and they had flared bottoms and appeared slightly too short.
Both the top and the trousers appeared washed out. The wee girl walked around us 3 or 4 times, I think 4, nothing was said. She didn't lift her head. I could see a gold chain with a name on it, I know it was a long name with an'L' or 'K', at the end as I could see the upright of the letter. The child never lifted her head and never spoke.

At about this time a male person walked in front of us, he never said anything. We were sat at the top of the stairs and he was at the bottom. The wee lassie she just walked over to him and stood in front of him. The wee girl just looked as well. The wee girl then walked over to the Mediterranean couple and the female fixed her trousers. The male that stood in front of me was about 6ft tall, dressed in a dark suit, maybe navy/dark grey. I think he had a shirt and tie on. It was a single breasted suit. Slim build, in his late 50's- early 60's, he had grey wavy hair swept back, he had a long face, which I would describe as shallow, without prominent cheekbones, he was clean shaven.

When the couple and child left, he went in the same direction. Nothing was said. We were sat on the north side of the river, near to a housing district and a primary school. We were in the same area as the wee girl for around half an hour or so.

We had to leave at about 1810 hrs to meet my granddaughter and husband. As I left I spoke to Ella and said I thought it was Madeleine McCann and she said she never thought of the wee girl. I don't know if there is any CCTV in the area.

I never had my camera at the time but I later went back and took a picture of where we were sat. I didn't report it to the Dutch Police because I didn't know how to contact them and I was also concerned as I do not speak Dutch.

Since I have come back I have looked at pictures of Gerry McCann and there was similarities in the mouth and nose. The wee lassie appeared to have taken a stretch and was skinnier then her pictures.

During the time I observed the child it was hot and in daylight. If I saw the man in the suit and the wee lassie again I would be able to recognise them again but I wouldn't be able to recognise the couple again.

Dated the 25th day of September 2007.

I am a friend of Isobel Finlayson. On the 1st August 2007(sic), I went on holiday with Isobel on the 3rd August(sic).

We went down to look at the cruise ships at the sea in Amsterdam. I had never seen anything like this and we went down to the water's edge, we sat by the steps and were watching the boats. As we were sat down there at around tea-time I was aware of a wee lassie, she was running around and when she ran past me she tapped me on the hand, as my hand was on the railing and I tapped her back. I said, "Hello" and "you having great fun", she never acknowledged me or indicated she understood what I was saying. I then said, "are you waving to the big ship ?", and again she never said anything.

When the ship left we went back home, as we were leaving Isobel said, "do you think that is Maddie ?". I thought she was jumping the gun but the wee lassie was about 4 years old with chin length blonde hair with a long fringe wearing a red top and mauve trousers.

I don't know if it was Madeleine McCann.

Dear Colleagues,

Please note that we have received the following message from Interpol Dublin.

MESSAGE BEGINS :

We have received the following report from Officers at Douglas Garda (Police) Station, Togher District, County Cork :

QUOTE :

On this date, Saturday, 4th August 2007, I spoke to Mrs Julie COTTER, Rxxxxxxxx, Mxxxxxx Lxxx, Waterford, (County Waterford, Ireland), who reported a sighting of a child in Roscoff, France, she believed may have been Madeleine McCANN. On Friday 3rd August, at 7pm approximately Mrs COTTER was in Roscoff with her husband prior to boarding the Brittany Ferry to Cork, Ireland. She states she saw a male described as average height and build, head.............

05/08/2007

Page 2569 (Page 2 of 2 )

..............shaven, age in his forties, educated English accent, wearing a t-shirt and three-quarter length summer trousers carrying a child she believed looked similar to Madeleine McCANN.

Mrs Cotter stated the child was distressed which is what drew her attention to her. Mrs COTTER heard the child say to the man carrying her, "I wish you would go away", the man replied, "I'm not going away, I have to get some cigarettes". Mrs COTTER is unfamiliar with Roscoff and cannot give a street name where she made the sighting, she described the area as a street with restaurants in the centre of Roscoff adjacent to a pier.

Mrs COTTER boarded the Brittany Ferry, Roscoff to Ringaskiddy Port, Cork and reported the matter to a staff member who contacted the British Police. Devon and Cornwall Police (station not known) then contacted Cobh Garda (Police) Station, Togher District, close to the Ferry Port in Cork.

Mrs Cotter was interviewed and this report taken from her upon her arrival in Cork earlier today.

UNQUOTE.

The male and child seen in Roscoff are not believed to have taken the Ferry to Ireland and their present whereabouts are unknown. A written statement will be taken from Mrs COTTER in the coming days.

MESSAGE ENDS.

At 2105 hours on Friday 17th August 2007 I was on duty at Worksop Police Station

when I spoke with Mr Alan HARDWICK ( Born 13/02/1947). Home address 'xx', Sxxxxxx

Lxxx, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, Sxx xxE. Tel : 019094xxxxx.

Mr HARDWICK has just returned from a two week holiday in Greece where he believed

he sighted Madeleine McCann numerous times during this two week period.

Mr HARDWICK travelled with his wife Carol HARDWICK, they left the UK on 2nd August

2007 and returned on 16th August 2007. They stayed at the Sanibeech Hotel which is a

large complex at Alcadike(sic), (unsure of the correct spelling(sic)),..(Note : Possibly

means Halkidiki)..., Greece. They travelled with First Choice Holidays.

Mr HARDWICK first sighted the girl who closely resembled McCANN(sic) on or around

the second day of his holiday. He states he saw a man around forty years with the girl

at the bottom end of the beach, away from everyone else, trying to get the girl to go in

the sea. The girl was crying and HARDWICK approached them and said, "SHE

PROBABLY DOES NOT LIKE IT MATE MAYBE TOO COLD FOR HER". HARDWICK says

the man did not speak and picked the girl up covering his face and walked away.

Mr HARDWICK said he then saw the same man with the girl in the Restaurant. This time

they were with a woman. Mr HARDWICK was looking at the girl, however when he went

to the toilet and then returned they left.

Mr HARDWICK states he saw the man and girl around the pool several times however

the girl was never allowed near other children and they always sat away from others.

On one occasion a photographer came round and when they got to the man and the

girl the man put a book up to her face so no photograph could be taken. On one

occasion a family are filming each other and the man shields both himself and the girl

from the camera.

Mr HARDWICK also lists several other things that he feels are odd :

When the English newspapers arrive they always disappeared
The man was never in the bars in the evening
The man and woman were rarely together and seemed something of an odd couple.

Madeleine McCann Sighting.

During the first few days of the stay there was a Black Volvo 850, which you rarely see

in Greece. Yhe VRM was 'xx' (or 'xx') 'xx' (or 'xx'). Mr HARDWICK thinks that Police

were looking for a Volvo.

Mr HARDWICK never really saw the man's face, however what he did see resembled a

photofit that had been in the Press.

Mr HARDWICK completed a handwritten LOG which I have seized and exhibited. This

is currently in the 'Other Than Found' Property Store at Worksop Police Station under

reference 416065.

If you wish to discuss this matter further with me please contact Worksop Police

Station on 01909500999 ext 'xxxx'. My mobile number is 077907xxxxx.

Re press photofit 4th August 2007 Daily Express

The following called in to Wavertree Road Police Station, Merseyside ('015177xxxxx') 20:00hrs 4th August 2007). He said that he was in Prague in May this year and he saw a girl there who he believes is Madeleine McCann with man. He is adamant (it) is the man in the above photofit. He says they were with a tall woman ( approx 5' 10", slim wearing jeans) who went into a shop to get the girl an ice cream. He says the girl was tearful and they walked away.

There was no reply on your phone number with it being a Saturday night so I just obtained his details to pass to you. Mr Condon was on his way to work and unable to give a statement. I was not in a position to take one because I was in charge of prisoners in the custody suite. I told him I would pass his details to you.

I have today taken a call from a Robin Pye, from Wxxxxx Cxxxxxx, Oxxxxx Rxxx, Horton-cum-Stadley(sic), ...(Note : May mean Horton-cum-Studley), Oxford.

Mr Pye stated that, through the Headington Moroccan Community, he had been informed that Madeleine was being held in the outskirts of Marrakech.

Mr Pye also stated that he had been led to believe that the Foreign Office were aware of this information but that they were doing nothing about it because the Moroccan Special Services were involved in the kidnap and that the Moroccan Royal Family are involved as well.

He kept going off on different tangents but stated that it was proof that the information was true and accurate.

He stated that he was a Retired General in the Army and that information had also been obtained by GCHQ, Cheltenham.

This person stated that on 8th or 9th August 2007 at about 17.00 when he was in the old part of Medina, near to the Continental Hotel that he saw a man carrying a girl who looked like Madeleine to the door. He tried to look at the girl's eyes but didn't manage. The girl seemed unhappy, ill-tempered and did not speak.

He described the man as being about 1.75 ? 1.80 cm in height, corpulent, aged 38 ? 45 with short fair hair, European type fair skin but he did not appear to be a tourist.

This individual spoke English and tried to buy shoes for the girl who corresponded to Madeleine's description. He says he does not remember the name of the shop which was in one of the labyrinths in Medina.

Subject : Possible sighting of Madeleine McCann

Approximately 1730 hours today a male by the name of Sxxxx Mxxxxxx AXXXX (born 10/08/1980) attending Clacton Police Station in Essex to report that at the weekend, whilst he was in Brussels, he saw the missing child, Madeleine McCann.

He states the circumstances are as follows : - he and his brother, Pxxx AXXXX, went to Belgium on Friday 10th August. They got a flight from London Docklands Airport around 15:30 to Brussels, arriving in the early evening. They had a couple of days of sightseeing and on Sunday 12th (August), between 1600-1700 whilst walking around Brussels he saw a child he believes to be Madeleine.

He claims that a white Ford car on an English Registration, although the only part he remembers is it had a 'H' prefix, pulled up at a service station. The car contained a black male, in his 20's, tall, wearing a blue cap, black tracksuit bottoms, white trainers, sunglasses and of a general smart appearance. A white, tanned, female also in her 20's with blonde hair, white T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. Thay got out of the car and the male grabbed a small female child by the arm and dragged her out of the car, shouting at her to "get out". This was with an English accent. He stated the child was crying. They all went into the service station for a couple of minutes then got back in the car and drove away. He describes the child as about 4 years old, shoulder length fair hair, wearing a pink flowery top, pink shorts and sandals, possibly blue in colour. He said she had very red lips.

When questioned a little further, he stated he was on the other side of the road to the service station, approx 30 feet away. He claims to kinow it was Madeleine as he could see her eyes and the mark which is unique to Madeleine.

Page 2686 (Page 2 of 2 )

When it was pointed out how far he was away and how it would be impossible to see that small detail in her eye, he insisted he could.

Having conducted checks on the male it would appear that he has previous Mental Health issues. I would hold very little, if any, weight to what he has said although I obviously have to pass any information on that I receive. I have asked to see his passport to back up his story that he went abroad but he said his brother has it in London. When asked if I could contact his brother he stated he didn't know where he lived and has no contact numbers. All very strange considering he may have just gone away with him. When asked for more specific details about where he was he was unable to give them.

He gave his contact details as 'xx'. Axxxx Exxx, Clacton-On-Sea, '012554xxxxx'. He stated he lived with his Mum and that he didn't want us contacting her. As soon as he left the station I called the number in an attempt to validate the fact he had been abroad but got no reply and there was no facility to leave a message.

Finally, when he first arrived he felt the Front Office Staff did not take him seriously so he called 'The Sun' newspaper. Thay have in turn called us and I have given no detail other than not to hold too much credibility to his story until such time we can back it up, but I did say any information received would be passed to the relevant investigating agency.

Please can you confirm receipt of this e-mail so I can ensure the information has been passed on.

Kind regards,

Information Relating to Report:

We hereby inform you that the child in reference could have been seen in Ibiza last month, between the 12th and 15 August. A woman, Giulia Ferrigno, date of birth 17-03-0954 was on holiday there and during a walk in Parque de Paz in Ibiza, saw a similar girl to the missing child. She had a small eye defect and was with a man aged approximately 40, of athletic build, about 1.85m in height with fair hair. A few days later, the woman saw the girl with the man again, dressed in the same way as on the previous sighting and they did not appear to be on holiday there. The woman decided to go to the police (Trieste) as soon as she returned to Italy, because when she saw a photo of the missing girl, she thought this could be the girl she had seen in Ibiza.

With compliments

Below named called into Rhyl Police Station to say that she thinks she saw Maddie in Marks & Spencer Store in Rhyl on 12th August 2007, but hadn't told anyone until now and hadn't been sleeping thinking about it. She had plum coloured dyed hair with a dummy in her mouth, about 2/4 yrs.

She was with a male (no description)

Although this lady seemed ok in her manner, I feel that the delay in providing the information makes me doubt her story.

The little girl is in Morocco in a town called Beni Mellal, which is about 100 km from Marrakesh, with a non-Moroccan man (tourist).

I saw them at a Beni Mellal monument.

He has a Mercedes 190 car.

If you want more information phone ***************** and come with 500000$ for him who will lead you to her.

I swear this is no joke.

I work and have no time for jokes.

You have another choice and that is not to come and never to see poor little Madeleine again.

SUBJECT : Multiple Spanish enquiries

The reports we ask assistance with from the Spanish Authorities on this occasion are as follows :

Ref A2866 - Ibiza
A report has been received from British holidaymakers returning from Ibiza. They report that between 20th and 27th June (2007), they were staying at Ibiza Club Migjorn apartments, Playa D'En Bossa.
They report that they were in apartment 302, and directly opposite the apartment was a private dwelling with a metal gate covered in bushes and trees. There was a child heard through the week crying out, "I want my mummy", in English. The only person seen to go to or from the address was a local looking male, mid 30's age., 1.75m tall, with dark receding hair and about 90 kilos in weight.
It is requested that property owner enquiries are carried out to trace the child involved.

Ref A2929 - Mallorca
A possible sighting has been reported in Mallorca. A returning British holidaymaker reports that in the week of 12th July (2007), there was a couple staying at 'xxx', Villa Mar 2, Palma Nova, Mallorca, with a child looking like Madeleine McCann. The child was mainly covered up in a pram. The woman with her is described as Irish, 1.98m tall, with short blond hair. She was with an older balding man.
It is requested that enquiries be made to trace the identity of the child.

Ref A2869 - Tenerife
A possible sighting occurred at the Peking Palace Chinese Restaurant, Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife, on the evening of 27th June 2007. The girl was wearing a white top and orange leggings and was with an English couple. The woman was white, about 25 years old, with blond hair, wearing a black skirt and top and the man was the same age, with short black hair and was wearing a white shirt and white shorts. They both called the child "Maddie".
The caller was a British holidaymaker, Peter Miller, who rang UK CrimeStoppers at 2100hrs that day and apparently informed local Authorities.
Can enquiries be made to result any local enquiries made at the area.

Ref A2858 - Puerto de Santa Maria
A possible sighting has been reported by a car park attendant in the car park next to the train station in Puerto de Santa Maria. The sighting dates back to June (2007) and was reported by........

Page 2720 (Page 2 of 2 )

.........the attendant to a Spanish resident called Anna Woodstock, phone no. '00346531xxxxx'.
The girl was apparently sleeping in a car in the car park overnight.
It is requested that contact be made with the caller to identify the car park attendant for whatever further enquiries are possible.

Ref A2945 - Torrevieja
We have been contacted by Susan Haynes (of 'Cxxxx Lx Lxxx, xx, Santa Gema Fase 1, Planta 1, Apartment 'xx'.
She reports a possible sighting at the jobcentre in Torrevieja about 11am on 12th July 2007.

(Note : Please refer to reports on Pages 2322-2325 and Pages 2326-2328 (Page 49 of this Thread) regarding original reports made made about this sighting)

(cont'd)

The jobcentre is called SERVEF and is at 6 Calle Galleon, phone '00349667xxxxx'. A woman in the centre was with a child who looked like Madeleine Mccann. The woman had ticket number A084 and when she left the centre she was in a grey car with registration number 'xxxx xxx'.
She later contacted the local Police and was visited at home that night by uniform Officers who took her to the local Police Station where she was interviewed at length.
It may be that all enquiries have been completed locally but she has heard no more and we request any update that may be available.

Thank you for your assistance in this enquiry.

I wish to report a possible sighting of the missing girl Madeleine McCann.

Between 1pm and 2pm on Thursday 16th August 2007, I was on holiday with my family in Sancti Perti, Chiclana, Southern Spain. I was in the Hotel Vallentin, sat in the pool-bar restaurant waiting for lunch. I noticed a Spanish looking man sat a few tables away with a young girl who looked like Madeleine. I thought it was odd because they were wearing clothes and everyone was in swimwear. I remember making a comment to my wife - "What would you do if you saw the missing Madeleine ?". She replied, "You would know her because of the mark on her eye". At the........

.......time it just seemed outrageous that it could be her. For instance, why would a kidnapped girl be in a public place ?.

They were both in view for a few seconds. They were about 10 feet away, lighting was excellent and observation was not impeded. I had not seen them before. I saw them 8 days ago and I thought it was Madeleine because of previous news pictures of her.

The episode slipped my mind till today on my way home on the plane. I saw an article in the Independant Newspaper, dated 24th August 2007, about a possible sighting of Madeleine with a man at a petrol station near Cartagena, South East Spain. I then felt I needed to report what I had seen.

I would describe the man as follows : - He was sat down, aged in late 30's-early 40's. Slim muscular build, short wavy dark hair, dark.......

Please find enclosed statement taken from Alex McCallum who attended at Milngavie Police Office. Have enclosed my statement taken from him along with his handwritten letter to Police. At no point could he describe the girl that he thought resembled Madeleine McCann, hence the reason I have not put a descriprion in the statement. When asked to describe all he said was, "She looked like Madeleine". I asked him to describe further with(out) avail.

Cheers

(Note : Here, is the handwritten letter sent to Police by Mr Alex McCallum. In the Files the pages of the letter, and the later Statement, have been mixed up with some later pages being inserted before the earlier pages. For clarity, I have posted the letter, and Statement, in their logical page sequence, but retained the original Page numbering for each page of this report within the Files)

1.
Late afternoon on Sunday June 17th this year (2007) my wife, adult grand-daughter and myself went for coffee in the Frizzell area of Bournemouth after a visit to a building site of 900 flats being built nearby, where my grand-son hopes to reside when completed in October.

My grand-daughter swiftly parked her family car, a Merc, at the same time as the dark blue BMW in front. A tallish man of athletic built, late 40's, rounded head and neatly clipped short hair, got out of it and moved towards us. I could not see we had done anything wrong. Surely not road-rage. Apparently he was concerned with the car that had pulled up behind us at the same time. We had separated them.

In the cafe on the corner adorned with classically ancient murals on the walls, the group sat together like a wax museum, never looking or moving in any direction.
We were the only ones beside them. A middle-aged man looked ordinary, also the woman beside him in spectacles, smaller. The boy not yet a teenager stood immobile between them gazing towards me all the time.

Page 2743 (Page 3 of 8 )

2.
The very young girl with her wide eyes did not look like the boy as being of the same nationality.
Both my family thought it to be merely my fertile imagination to be at work when I thought the girl could be the missing Madeleine. The other woman in the group I could not see her face, only her back towards me, looked foreign with brunette hair tied together at the back of her neck. Slightly wavy perhaps.

Conclusion. Why were they not talking to one another ? Was their language different from one another that they could only communicate only when out of earshot ? What of the...
(illegible)...boy ? Was it really a family, all different, returning from holiday with the boot of the other car behind full, it appears, to the brim with clothes levelled out and no sign of suitcases ? Given the benefit of the doubt they looked a motley lot.

Note :(sic) I was wearing a Pegasus Bridge badge with the Normandy flag from an earlier visit. Did they think they were being followed ?

Page 2744 (Page 4 of 8 )

3.
They sat for a while, long after our coffee was gone with nothing on their table. Eventually, it appeared the young girl was given "jelly" from the "BMW" man on his knee, whereupon she appeared weary and rested on his shoulder. They were still there when we left. If the "jellyglass" had been tested it would have read male DNA.

Were the children drugged ? If her hair had been dyed,...( (illegible)...as on TV), as photographs depict she wore a headband to hide any change in roots colouring.

(Note : From here, witness's writing is becoming more difficult to read)

(letter continues)
:

- Perhaps I am one who thought it could be Madeleine like 5000 others.

If I was right she could be here in Britain.

One report I read in a newspaper was of a Frenchman who kept an abducted child for two months before handing over to a paedophile group.

A dullish day it was with few about.

Could be harmless but odd.

(?)4.
There is no clue as the whereabouts of
the missing child Madeleine. What
do you think about the situation ?
Just someone with a fertile imagination ?
Or were they waiting for someone
else, or time for drug-taking ?

Statement :

My name is Alex McCallum. I am 84 years of age. I have stayed at my home address for 5 years now. I left my home address on Friday 15th June 2007, heading, by car, to Bournemouth, where myself, my wife Cynthia and my grand-daughter Lucy...
(illegible)....were staying at St...(illegible)...(illegible)...site for a week in a luxury caravan.

My grand-daughter Lucy parked her car on the street near to the cafe, at the same time I noticed a dark blue BMW saloon (NFD) in front of Lucy's vehicle. A male of the following description got out of the said vehicle. He was around 6 feet of athletic build, late 40's, rounded head and neatly clipped short hair, he was of European appearance. He then made his way towards the car which had parked behind us, am not sure of the make but I reckon a vehicle of equal size. The vehicle behind us had it's boot filled ot the brim with clothes, up to the level where a partial shelf would go. It was late afternoon when Lucy parked the car on Sunday 17th June 2007 and myself, wife and Lucy went for a coffee in the Frizzell area of Bournemouth. Am not sure of the cafe's name, but it was on the corner and the walls within were adorned with classic ancient murals.

Continuation Sheet :

The group, 1 male adult and 2 female adults and two children, boy and girl, entered the same cafe as ourselves and sat together, like something out of a wax museum, not looking or moving in any direction. We sat near to them. The adult male was the gentleman I described earlier. One of the female adults as being small with spectacles NFD and the other female adult had dark hair pulled back in a bun, taller and possibly early 50's NFD. The boy with the group I would reckon was around 8 years of age, was standing motionless between the male and the woman who had her hair swept back in a bun, gazing straight ahead in my direction. The young girl who was with them, who I possibly think resembles Madeleine McCann did not look like she was from the same family as the little boy. They looked of different nationalities.
All persons sitting at the table were not talking to each other. They sat for a while after our coffee was finished with nothing on their table. A short while later the young girl was fed jelly while she sat on the male's knee. At no point feeding herself. Once finished she appeared tired and weary and rested her head on the male's shoulder. We then left the cafe and they were still there.
I ask myself, "Were the children drugged ?".
The little girl's hair may be dyed, but she wore a headband to hide any change in root colouring, coming underneath her chin.
I remember from the news, a girl being fed jelly. Is this possibly linked ?
