I inform you that today a phone call was received by this police station made by a male individual speaking Spanish, who identified himself as Rodrigo.

His call informed us that in Calle Alexandre Sacker, at a few metres distance from a police post, he saw an individual aged over 45, between 1.80 and 1.90 in height, fair skinned and blond, who today at about 19.00, was accompanied by a girl who was in every way identical to the photo. The girl was held firmly by the hand and was tearful.

He gave his Spanish mobile as contact number ****.

That is all I have to inform you.

I inform you that today, at about 22.20 when I was on duty at the police station, I received a phone call from Nº*****, having spoken with an individual who spoke French and who identified himself as Mr Beautayen (the name is possibly not correct) insisting that he had seen the girl Madeleine McCann and that she was as a farm situated in Bonne Santé, in the south west of France, between Toulouse and Bordeaux.

He added that the girl was with other children of both sexes, aged between 4 and six years old. He also added that he has knowledge that the individuals who are holding the girl are preparing to take her to South America or Venezuela.

The individual also insisted in sending the exact location of the farm tomorrow to the police station, by fax to the numbers he was provided with.

Given the nature of the information, this was immediately passed orally to Portimao DIC colleagues.

On the day in question, as they were taking a stroll in town, they had spotted a little girl on a verandah. She was riding a tricycle and said 'Hello' to them in English as they passed by her. A few days later, they took the bus to Valetta. They believe they saw the same girl on the bus, in the company of a bald man. Having read the story about the disappearance in the newspaper, they think the girl they spotted on the verandah in Buggiba, Malta, matches the picture of Madeleine published in the newspaper.

On Sunday 2nd June 2007 myself and my husband (Sam JESS) went on holiday to Fuengarola, Costa Del Sol, Spain. On Sunday 9th June 2007 I was walking in Fuengarola Marina with my husband. At about 2:30 (PM) Spanish Time we had a coffee at a cafe nearby. When we got up we stipped to watch a wee (small(sic)) girl feed the fish. When she and the adult male with her had finished, we followed them out of the Marina. The girl fell and hurt her knee and the male called her "Maddie" and said something like "Your mother will be wondering what I've been doing with you". I knew about Madeline(sic) MCCANN and so I made a pretence of photographing the Towers but it was to get a photo of the girl.

The man was behind me and my husband had walked ahead. The man said, "I'll take a photo of you and your husband". I said, "No, we don't do group photos". He said, "I'll take your's then". But I declined.

Then they walked off.

I would describe the man as 30's to 40's, broad build, 5'5" - 5' 6", mousy brown hair, reddish face, wearing a white short sleeve shirt, white shorts. He had an English accent with no noticable regional accent. He looked like a young DALZIEL out of the "DALZIEL and PASCOE" television programme. I formed the opinion that he was an ex-pat living in Spain.

A possible sighting of madeleine McCann has been reported on 10th June 2007 in Kenya. The caller states that they were on internal flight 752Y at 11am that day from KTC Lodge Wildlife Safari Park, Kichwa Tembo. The Park is near to Lake Victoria and the Tanzania border.
They report that a child looking like Madeleine McCann was on the flight from that location and got off the aircraft at the next stop. They did not know where that was. The child was with a white man and woman and a boy of about 11 years old.

Police were carrying out central search checks at Terminal 4, when they were approached by passenger , Ms Jessica KERSTIN, dob 10th February 1972, home address Axxxxxxxx xx, 1079H5, Amsterdam ; contact phone number 0031(0)65063xxxxx.
She stated to police that she was on the HEX coming to LHR, and she noticed a small child just like Madeleine McCANN. This lady took out one of the flyers with Madeleine's picture on it, with the CrimeStoppers number. She pointed to the picture and stated that 'she looked just like that '.

She stated that she had pink and white shoes on, with a strap across the ankle, with the toe part of the shoe in pink. She was also wearing a flowery top and trousers, which could have been an all in one suit.

She said the little girl looked about four (4) years old, and was with an Italian looking woman, who spoke both in Italian and in English to the girl. The only description that the woman could give about the woman was that she had black hair.

The woman stated that they got off the HEX at what she beleived was Terminal 1, and she proceeded to Terminal 4, where she spoke with the police.

This information was passed onto Heathrow CAD Room, and a search of Terminal 1 and 3 was carried out by the uniformed police officers on Hunter 204.

Police were called to Terminal 4 BA ticket desk and were told the following :
Approx 1500hrs two male passengers were purchasing tickets when one of them picked up a Madeleine McCann missing leaflet. In the words of the informant, "they raised their eyebrows at each other in a suspicious manner without saying anything". She believed this to be suspicipous and provided the details of the passengers as :

Gxxxxx Bxxxx and Gxxx Sxxxxx, both on flight BA125 to Bahrain and both returning on 14th June 2007 on BA124. Both men had left prior to police arrival.

I am the above named person and I currently live at the address overleaf. Between the 5th and 19th of June 2007, my partner Nicole Etherton and I were on holiday in Malta.

On Monday the 11th of June 2007 we visited the town of Valletta. At between 12 midday and 1.30pm we had just purchased ice cream and Nicole had walked slightly ahead of me. The ice cream stall was situated near to a cinema on the corner of Ir Repubblika and Santa Lucija. As I walked to catch up with Nicole I walked across the Ir Repubblika towards the St John's Cathederal.

It was at this point I noticed an elderly male walking towards me and his left hand was holding the right hand of a young female. This struck me as being very odd as something about the couple looked not quite right, as though they shouldn'd be together.

The young girl was White, and about 4 years old, 4ft tall and a thin build. She had straight blonde hair which came down to just past her shoulders. Her hair had a fringe which was straight across her mid-forehead. She had no distinctive marks, moles or scars, but she did not appear to..(word illegible here).....

They wish to remain anonymous but state that NI got on the bus at the harbour area in Torrevieca in company with a black female who was smartly dressed. They got off the bus at the Urbanisation Torretas Phase 33.

Haywood states that his clients are sensible and reliable business people.

Your message 4H-2395710-07 of 30th May 2007 concerning the disappearance of Madeleine Beth McCann, born 12th May 2003. With regard to the information supplied to the Police by Lakas Hermansson (LH) concerning the missing girl in the Urbanizacion Mil Palmeras, we wish to inform you that we have found the swimming pool referred to by the informant. It is on the premises of the Olimpia Restaurant, a complex covering a considerable area. Ther are no commercial outlets nearby the Restaurant. The complex staff indicated that it is frequented mainly by British Nationals. The photograph of the missing girl did not seem familiar to the staff although they did know about the case from extensive media coverage.

There are basically 2 commercial zones on the Urbanizacion Mil Palmeras.
Neither of them has an English or Irish pub. The establishments are run by (Spanish) Nationals and their names and what they sell is not referred to by foreign names although they are aimed at foreign Nationals.

We have only been able to find 1 Irish pub on the Urbanizacion Mil Palmeras. It is run by and is within the hotel Manoli Hotels owned by the company Manoli Alquileres SL.

When asked, the staff of this pub stated that it was normal to see children with their parents when the latter go to the pub for a drink, including late at night.

The waiters/barmen at this establishment had no knowledge of either the incident or the characteristics of the persons mentioned in the information supplied by LH. However, they were aware of the case of Madeleine Beth McCann.

We also located the location where LH stayed (Playa-23). It is a block of apartments close to the commercial area, near the taxi rank and the Saura Supermarket.

All of these details have been taken into account in terms of distance and time. It is quite a distance from the zone in question to the Irish pub which has been found.

It has not been possible to establish the identity of the couple or the girl who spoke to the informant. Neither has it been possible to establish where they stayed.

If possible, please send us more precise information since with..that held(???)..((?without that?)) it is not possible to take checks further.

(1) Circumstances : Inft's wife has just come back from South Africa and has brought back a newspaper and Inft was reading it and came across an article which read as follows :

"Police call off hunt for 2 men who fled with child"

by Wesley April.

Police have called off the search for 2 men who run away with a child - When confronted by Officers on Dewaal Drive, near University Estate, on Thursday - Police spokesperson, Billy Jones, said the men were of dark complexion, wore black clothing and were in their 20/30's. The toddler was fair, wore a white stripe shirt and is about 3 years old - Police searched on Thursday and Friday without success. Jones said Police have not received any report of a missing or kidnapped child and other enquiries were unsuccessful - Anyone with information can call the Operation Centre at 0215062322.

At 10.20 today, Sub Chief Henriques nº 70, appeared before me, Principal Officer Luis Miguel Costa Teixeira, to give me the following information:

A woman named Lisete, wit ID card N****, told him that she knows of a girl whom she suspects to be Madeleine, because of her age and appearance.

Lisete has a daughter who studies at the Escola Básica dos Caraguejais in the third grade and who has a fellow student named Vital André Jilk, who uses crutches and whose mother brings him to school every day between 8 and 9 in the morning, also taking the girl along.

According to Lisete’s daughter, Vital supposedly has a sister whom she thinks is Madeleine, because she has seen her and the mother always tries to hide her and because Vital does not like to talk about his sister and that this family is of English origin.

Sub Chief Henriques also told me that he knows that this family was in the Algarve at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance.

That is all I have to inform you.

Please find the enquiries carried out for your operation. Patrol has taken a statement from the witness who alleges to have seen Madeleine in the 'GRILL', Broadstairs High Street, Kent.

Patrol has attended the 'GRILL' to view any possible in-house CCTV. However there is no systems set up. Patrol spoke with staff at the 'GRILL' to see if they could remember anything from that date, however this has been negative.

A CCTV form has been completed for review of Broadstairs High Street, between the times of 1200 hours and 1400 hours, to pay attention to a black 4x4, index unknown.

On June 14th 2007 I was in Monreale, Palermo, Italy, and I saw a little gilr being watched over by an older girl. They I believe were with the venders(sic). She was trying to leave. It was up and around the stairway, where all the venders were. It bothered me. After I was home I saw the picture of Madeleine Beth McCann on TV. But I had no idea where I was until my friend sent me a disc of the pictures. Unfortunately she is not on my pictures. Only the name of where I was.
All I knew was I was in Palermo. At the time she was dressed in a darkish green plaid dress. My husband said they were sisters, I didn't think it looked like that. This little girl has been strongly on my mind. I am 72 years old, of sound mind, a retired nurse.

Driving on the N270 in Portugal near Messines, we saw a Traveller family coming towards us on the other side of the road in a typical horse and cart with numerous passengers all with quite dark skin and hair, with the exception of one child in someone's arms who appeared to be quite blonde. I understand the Traveller community in Portugal has been extensively investigated and do not want to appear discriminatory but both my wife and I have been unsettled about what we saw and felt we should tell somebody about it.

With reference to the attached e-mail relating to a possible sighting of NI (Note : NI = Madeleine McCann) in Javea, Spain, on the 15th June 2007.

The witness stated that the vehicle number of the vehicle they saw was 'xxxx xxx', and that it was some kind of people carrier.
On PNC this is a grey Vauxhall Astra CTDi owned by Lex Lease Hire and enquiries with this company reveal the following :

The current user of this vehicle is a Rxxxxxx Bxxxxxx, xx, xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx, Aylesbury.

This address has been visited and officers have spoken to Axxxx Bxxxxxx, who is Rxxxxxx Bxxxxxx ex-wife who he is separated from.
She confirmed that he has possession of this vehicle and that he was at present on holiday in Devon with their 3 children, the youngest of which is over 10 years of age.

She stated that he should not be in Spain at all and had in fact spoken to him during his holiday in Deven.
Bxxxxxx is an accountant and is N/T on PNC.

I am a Journalist from the Guardian and am reporting this week from Portugal on the continuing investigations into the Madeleine McCann case.
I was contacted this morning by a member of the public who says he has seen a child who he thought might be Madeleine some weeks ago. He said he has reported this to yourselves and to the findmadeleine.com website but has not had any response.
You may be working on this or have discounted it but I need to pass this on to you obviously.
The man's name is Dr Seamus Hegarty and his numbers are 078549xxxxx or 0200899xxxxx.
He says he saw a little girl who he thought was remarkably like Madeleine while at a professional conference in Budva, Montenegro, on June 15th 2007.
He is an educationalist and child specialist.
Please get in touch if I can be of any further help. My details are below.

I have just witnessed something very strange.

I am in Javea-Spain. ---- I was travelling towards Javea with my wife on the Jesus Pobre road and just outside Javea at approx 12.30, we saw two people carriers parked at the side of the road. facing towards Javea.

From one, either a dark blue or black colour, a man emerged carrying a little girl under his arm, like a sack of potatoes and please, I don't exaggerate. She had pale blonde hair, and wearing either a dress, or matching shorts and top, of floral dark pink or red.
The man RAN to the vehicle in front and as I drove by, he placed the little girl in the other vehicle a light grey colour. By the time I had managed to stop and took in what had occurred the two vehicles moved off. I asked my wife to write down the number of the light grey vehicle.
'xxxx xxx'. Sorry I didn't get either make of vehicle.

I kick myself for not getting more info. It happened so quickly, and I did not get my brain into gear fast enough.....so I am so so very sorry, and extremely cross with myself.

Because of the language problem I went to the Tourist Office and asked them to report to the Police but they sent me to the Police, where, after a discussion with the tourist board they sent me to the Guadia Civil in the centre of Town to report.
I haven't been, as they would probably send me somewhere else ..
I have tried the Crimestoppers number without success, so I just hope you are more on the ball, than my efforts so far.

Informative Note

Subject: Information given by Isabel Gonz?ez about a girl she saw in Zaio and who could be Madeleine McCann, who recently disappeared from the Algarve (Portugal).


The undersigned inspector who is writing to the PJ belongs to the Interior Ministry of Melilla.

That he has received the notes attached, signed by the Service Coordinator last night, where reference is made to the witness account made by Isabel Gonz?ez, who states that yesterday at about 12.30 in the main square of Zaio, Morocco, she saw a girl who appeared to be Madeleine, the small girl who disappeared on 3rd May from the Algarve.

The undersigned officer has been in contact by phone with Mrs Gonz?ez, who, with total sureness has reaffirmed her first statements, broadening the information relating to the circumstances of the encounter, the physical characteristics of the girl as well as those of the woman who accompanied her, as follows:

- The encounter with the small girl took place in the main square of Zaio, at the precise moment when she was travelling slowly in the vehicle driven by her husband, when she saw a woman crossing at a distance of three or four metres, the woman was middle aged, dark skinned, wearing a chitaba and headscarf and was leading a young girl by the hand, which drew her attention due to the contrast with the woman, given that the little girl had very white legs, white skin, was slim and with an unmistakably European appearance, which led her to look more carefully and also observe that she had very blond long hair, tied back in a pony tail, covered by a beige coloured cloth.

- At a given moment the girl lifted her head and she could see her face clearly and to her surprise she thought she recognised her as the English girl ? Madeleine ? whose disappearance in Portugal had been announced and whose image had been spread by the media.

- The physical description of the girl, according to information from the witness, is the following: Aged about 5 years, between 100 and 110 cm tall, very slim, very white skin, blond hair with a pony tail at the back, wearing a green dress that came to her knees, a beige headscarf and wearing sandals.

The witness alerted her husband to what she had seen and made him park the car and they returned to the square to confirm her suspicions but upon doing this, neither the woman nor the girl were there.

The husband of Isabel Gonz?ez with whom the undersigned inspector has spoken, ratifies the version given by his wife, with the only safeguard that he did not see the childs face, but that he has no doubt that judging from her external appearance she was of European origin and for that reason stood out from the other inhabitants of the area.

Re our telephone conversation of Saturday 16th June 2007.

A witness statement was taken by the Police of Rotterdam of a person who thought to have seen Madeleine on a beach in Scheveningen. She was able to take a picture.
We made several attempts to mail the picture to your office without result.
Please find encluded in this letter a copy of the picture taken by a witness at the beach of Scheveningen/NL.

Please note that this picture has also been sent to the Police of Portimao after being advised by Mr Gomes and Mr Tavares. We have had contact with Antonio of the Team on Saturday and he informed that all angles are looked at but that due to the amount of tips the workload is enormous.
We comprehend that so we will leave any answers in this case at your convenience.

Above-mentioned has been responded by us to the Police of Rotterdam but they insist to contact the Team in Portimao themselves. We have not been able to convince them to leave the matter at the convenience of the Portuguese Authorities.

Further to my phone call I write the information as requested.

My husband and I returned from holiday in Malta last night.

On Sunday night he was finishing his drink in a cafe/taverna across from our hotel ( Plaza Hotel, Sliema, Malta) and I had returned to our room - it was about 11.30 in the evening. The following morning, over breakfast, he seemed pre-occupied and then said that he had seen something strange after I had left the previous evening and that it was playing on his mind. He had seen a man in his 40's of what he thought was of Arabic or Middle Eastern origin, holding a little girl's hand, and a woman, quite a bit younger than the man. As they passed the little girl tripped and the man said '.......little girl......'. This struck my husband as strange as we have 2 daughters of our own and he would have said, 'are you alright Exxx/Dxxxxx.....', as a caring father. Then he noticed the little girl's hair. It was pitch black and very thick and cut in an unusual style for a child of that age/size - it was so unusual that it looked more like a wig than proper hair. They then seemed to see something and dashed across the road up a side-street which tourists would not use.

My name is Carla and I live in Brasilia. Today at 11 AM on the W3 south bound, block 505-506, a foreign looking woman drew my attention, she had red hair and strange clothes, who was walking with a blonde girl aged between 4 and 5. I saw them twice at traffic lights. Until that moment I just admired the girl’s beauty, but when I arrived at the place where I drink my morning coffee I saw a photo of the missing girl, Medde (sic), in the newspaper. I walked around the blocks where I had seen them several times, but did not see them again. I asked in several hotels whether there were two guests with these descriptions, but I did not get a positive answer from any of them. The girl I saw was very similar to the photo, perhaps a little blonder. It could be a coincidence but I didn’t know nothing about this case yet, in spite of the wide coverage. I would like you or the police to check this information.

Dear Colleagues,

The following is a synopsis, as prepared by the CID from the Malta Police, concerning an alleged sighting of missing person Madeleine McCann :

On the 17th June 2007 at around 2200hrs, two British tourists reported to the Police that earlier on during the day (noon) they had seen a young girl who they strongly believed was Madeleine McCann - abducted in Portugal in May of this year.

Upon receipt of this information, the two female tourists ( twin sisters) were further interviewed by detectives from the CID and they both explained that on the 17th June 2007 at around 0830hrs, they had gone to the market-place in Valletta. At around midday, they went to the Bus Terminus to board the Bus back to Bugibba. While at the Terminus, waiting for Bus number 49, they noticed a little girl accompanied by a woman who was right in front of them in the queue. Within minutes, they boarded the Bus and were talking to the girl all the way to St Paul's Bay. The woman who was accompanying the girl was sitting right in front of these two persons on the Bus. The girl was very easy going with these two women and started chatting with them.

It was at this point that one of these informers noticed that the girl highly resembled Madeleine McCann who was reported missing in Portugal on the 3rd of May 2007. In fact, they both remarked that they had been seeing photographs of the absentee for the past weeks and that the girl in front of them had a lot of similarities to the girl shown on these photographs. They also included a paticular sopt in the girl's right eye.

On the Bus, the woman accompanying the girl stopped the latter from talking to these women for a number of times and did not look back at them as if she was trying to hide her face. However, they also managed to get a clear mental picture of this woman. At one moment in time, the girl was observed to become nervous and was saying to this lady, "You're not my mum and not my nanny". Both the girl and the woman then disembarked the Bus next to the Bugibba Quay at St Paul's Bay. Upon going down from the Bus, this lady was observed by looking at the two twin women in a suspicious manner. At that moment, they thought that she was trying to see whether they were still following her.

The twin sisters managed to compile an E-Fit of the woman accompanying the young girl. These two E-Fits (compiled separately) are being herewith attached.

The reporting women remarked that this woman had a Yorkshire accent.

Upon being further interviewed the twin sisters averred that they had ample time to have a very good look at the young girl since they spent almost one hour on the Bus.

Description of the girl :

The girl was observed to be wearing very low little shoes, blue short jeans, a top and something else over it which seemed to be very light. She had a thin sovereign ring in her hand and stud earrings with white stones. Her feet were full of bruises. The girl had a Scottish accent.

Description of the lady accompanying the girl :

The woman who was accompanying the girl was described to have relatively short yellowish hair, dark brown eyes, fake eye-lashes, around 54 years of age, chubby and around 5'6" - 5'7" tall. The woman had a Yorkshire accent.


Further investigations are actively ongoing as we speak.
